What is this? Who is this?

Join your Uncle Tommy under the stars and by the light of the “fire” ('cuz you sure don't wanna be near him in the dark). All the nostalgic thrills of sitting round the campfire with friends, telling scary stories & eating burnt things on sticks. Except told by some sketchy dude in a backyard in Kensington Market.

At the 2015 Toronto Fringe Festival - An outdoor, after‐dark, NSFW, site‐specific one‐man "show", taking place in the backyard of FIKA Café in Kensington Market. Audience members are invited to pull up a blanket or log and join Uncle Tommy on a dark and twisted journey with his collection of inappropriate tales. The venue, FIKA Cafe, will be selling campfire inspired goodies and refreshing beverages to enjoy during the show for a full campfire experience.

Tommy Taylor – Uncle Tommy
Tommy is a theatre artist and activist based in Toronto. Taylor's last one-man show, You Should Have Stayed Home: A G20 Romp!, detailed his arrest and detention at the infamous Toronto G20 Summit. Produced by Praxis Theatre, it premiered at SummerWorks 2011 and went on to a National Tour in 2013 (Whitehorse, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa), receiving rave reviews. Some other things Tommy has done include: Director of the North American premiere of Jordan Hall’s award-winning play, Kayak, (2010 SummerWorks Festival, starring Rosemary Dunsmore). For the Fringe, Tommy last directed and co-wrote Lifeboat at the 2006 Festival. Tommy’s activities outside of theatre have included working for Amnesty International Canada and fundraising on behalf of political advocacy groups like LeadNow and Open Media.

Uncle Tommy – The Storyteller
When asked for information on himself, Uncle Tommy simply replied, “I did my time, now I can do whatever I want.” (His parole officer says that is not entirely true). From what little information could be gathered, he has spent his time drifting across North America and Southeast Asia. He claims to have spent years telling scary stories by the fire, only now he wants to try it with other people present. Uncle Tommy boasts to have won numerous awards in a variety of categories, but no evidence could be found to support this claim. He eagerly reminds patrons that there are “no refunds”.
